Plantar fasciitis is considered one of the primary causes of foot, arch and heel pain. It involves the inflammation of your plantar fascia.

The plantar fascia is the thick band of connective tissue/ligament that connects your heel and toes. Most patients suffer more pain in the morning after waking and getting up from bed. The pain may become more severe as you put weight on your feet.

CBD has profound effects on inflammation and therefore can greatly reduce the pain of plantar fasciitis. I have studied the connection between plantar fasciitis and inflammation extensively.

My conclusion is that Plantar fasciitis is greatly improved by including CBD in your self care routine.

Now that you know how effective CBD can be with plantar fasciitis, you may wondering what is the best type of CBD to get relief from plantar fasciitis.

Best Type of CBD For Plantar Fasciitis

If you’re searching for a CBD product to help soothe the aches and pains related to plantar fasciitis, you have seemingly endless choices. These products range from CBD oil or tinctures, topicals, and edibles such as chocolate or gummies.

All of the above can be effective for pain management. Applying a topical CBD cream may provide relief for 2 to 4 hours and would need to be reapplied as needed. Using CBD oil by taking it sublingually ensures prompt delivery of the substance and can have longer lasting effects.

Depending on the severity of your condition, I recommend using both the tincture and the topical creams. The top benefit of using CBD-enriched topicals is that you can target your pain and apply it directly to the site of inflammation.

Further benefits include the natural results of pain relief, such as relaxation, the ability to move more easily and smoothly, and better-quality sleep.

CBD creams and other topicals are especially helpful for muscle and fascia pains. If you are planning on purchasing a CBD-infused cream, I recommend trying our 250mg CBD Infused Relief Stick.

This maximum strength balm is unique and carefully crafted. It utilizes 5 powerful essential oils along with 250mg of organic hemp-derived CBD, which penetrates deeply & quickly into muscles, joints, and fascia.

Now that you know how effective CBD can be with plantar fasciitis, you may have more questions about the benefits of CBD.

Let's take a deeper look at how CBD effects inflammation, joint pain, back pain, anxiety & stress, nausea, aging skin, our immune system, and our beloved pets.

Does CBD Help With Inflammation & Joint Pain?

CBD is full of inflammation-fighting compounds. This makes it really powerful at treating your joint pain and other inflammatory conditions such as arthritis.

In 2014, researchers from the University of South Carolina found that CBD actually deactivates inflammatory proteins. Lowered inflammation = lowered pain.

CBD is highly effective against inflammation pain due to its ability to promote balance. Studies have shown that cannabinoids (CBD) are up to 20 times more potent than common over-the-counter NSAIDs like ibuprofen.

A staggering 80% of people who use CBD give up pharmaceutical pain medication due to its anti-inflammatory and pain relieving effects.

This is why CBD has been used to treat a wide array of conditions even autoimmune disorders such as multiple sclerosis, colitis, lupus, and arthritis.

Does CBD Help With Back Pain?

While there isn’t necessarily research specifically on CBD and back pain, there are many studies on CBD for pain in general.

In my practice, I have been an advocate of CBD for many years as a means of relieving pain syndromes in my patients.

In my opinion, CBD does a much better job at combatting inflammation and pain than traditional pain medications and anti-inflammatories.

A 2020 study noted a link between CBD use and decreased chronic pain. In fact, 94 percent of participants saw improvements in their quality of life.

Researchers not only found that CBD was useful in overall pain management but also reported that it didn’t have any negative side effects.

Studies have also shown that cannabinoids (CBD) are up to 20 times more potent than common over-the-counter NSAIDs like ibuprofen. So, yes, it absolutely helps with back pain!

Does CBD Help With Anxiety & Panic Attacks?

When we are experiencing anxiety, our brain releases hormones that put us in ‘fight or flight’ mode. This actually takes the body’s resources away from critical systems - like our immune response.

CBD has the amazing ability to subtly help balance your mood and diminish anxiety. It gives you a sense of peace even if the world around you is going crazy.

CBD has been shown in controlled lab tests to affect how the brain reacts to the serotonin present in the body. CBD will not increase serotonin levels; however, it can boost your body’s reaction to lower serotonin levels that are likely connected to anxiety and depression.

CBD has fewer side effects compared to common antidepressant and antianxiety meds, however, it is not a replacement for a prescribed antidepressant or antianxiety medication.

Does CBD Help Calm You Down?

Due to CBD’s rising popularity, a number of studies have examined it as a calming remedy. Research shows that it has profound calming properties. Especially with reducing racing minds, elevated heart rates, and thus lowering feelings of anxiety.

I have personally noticed that I feel more grounded and I am able to focus on tasks more efficiently when I take CBD regularly.

Individuals who used CBD oil regularly in particular found that it calmed them down and helped to alleviate symptoms of stress and anxiety.

Does CBD Help With Sleep?

One of the most recent studies from 2019 showed that CBD has properties that help improve sleep by easing anxiety and pain, both of which can make it harder to fall asleep or stay asleep.

Some other research hints that CBD may also affect sleep directly by interacting with receptors in the brain that govern the body’s daily sleep/wake cycles.

In other studies, it has been concluded that CBD has the potential to decrease the release of cortisol, a stress hormone that is highest in the morning when waking up.

Higher cortisol levels are typically found in those with insomnia. CBD can potentially reduce these levels acting as a sedative to improve sleep.

Does CBD Help With Nausea?

CBD is widely reported to have digestive benefits for many people. It helps to provide relief from nausea with those who struggle with chronic nausea or nausea from other medications, especially chemotherapy.

It also helps reduce the feeling of sickness and improve appetite. This is because CBD is believed to help serotonin production in the brain which aids in reducing nausea.

It can also aid with digestive issues such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Crohn's disease, and Diverticulitis due to it's ability to diminish inflammation. The underlying root cause of each of these gut issues is inflammation.

Is CBD Good For The Immune System?

CBD has been shown to have a profound effect on the immune system. It does this primarily by reducing overall inflammation in the body, which can reduce the load on the immune system.

Inflammation is an immune-system response. This, in turn, gives the immune system a better chance to respond to environmental threats. CBD has been in my personal supplement routine as a defense against viruses and other illnesses.

Benefits Of CBD For Skin Care

While we’re still discovering all of the benefits of CBD, the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects make it a promising ingredient in skin care and wellness products. I have included cannabis essential oil in my anti-aging essential oil blend for these reasons.

Researchers have been able to identify the three primary benefits to our skin; the body's largest organ.

  • It helps to regulates oil production. The overproduction of sebum is thought to be a contributing factor of acne. According to a 2014 study, CBD may have an anti-inflammatory effect on sebocytes, the skin cells that produce sebum.

  • It helps diminish inflammation. As an anti-inflammatory, CBD may be able to help reduce swelling, pain, and redness from existing breakouts, or irritation from skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

  • It hydrates dry skin. Research from 2009 suggests that CBD may be effective for dry, dehydrated skin, thereby reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

Is CBD Safe?

YES! CBD is generally considered safe, but you must know where it has been sourced to obtain a quality product free from toxins, parabens, synthetic chemicals and artificial fragrances. CBD is fairly easy to find and purchase, but be aware that it is not well regulated.

We pride ourselves on the purity and potency of our CBD. We are a wellness and self-care brand rooted in healthcare industry, not a wellness and self-care brand riding the CBD wave.

Where we source our hemp to how it’s processed is incredibly important to us. We partner with a small, farm in rural Tennessee that is USDA certified organic and practices sustainable farming.

We have a longstanding relationship with our farm and consider everyone who works there family. We have complete confidence in both their farming practices and processing operations, and plan to continue to partner with them as our brand (and demand) grows.

Summary

While we’re still scratching the surface of the advantages of consuming CBD, it really is incredibly fascinating and promising in terms of the wide range of health benefits especially with inflammatory conditions such as plantar fasciitis. I think we will only see more and more research on how it enhances your health overall.

We hope that you find our posts helpful and please feel free to forward this information to anyone who might have questions about the benefits of our CBD. We strive to educate our patients on all aspects of health.

Can I Treat Plantar Fasciitis At Home?

As a chiropractor and foot specialist, I often see patients with plantar fasciitis after they’ve tried everything. Cortisone shots, night splints, ineffective stretching, and rolling on a frozen water bottle are a few of their failed remedies.

If you’re wondering how to treat plantar fasciitis at home, I want to share a few insights that have worked for my patients. The solution for most of my patients is through addressing multiple factors.

  • Improving limited ankle mobility and dorsiflexion

  • Strengthening weak intrinsic foot muscles

  • Strengthening weak calf, soleus, and peroneal muscles

Rarely is there a quick fix for PF. Identifying areas of weakness in the foot and ankle and restoring proper foot function is the most important piece of the puzzle.

I have created a step-by-step comprehensive guide on how to resolve Plantar Fasciitis at Home. Take a look at my FREE GUIDE here.
