Graston Technique

Graston Technique

I have always been a strong advocate of using soft tissue treatment in conjunction with joint mobilization in my practice. The Graston Technique has become one of the most effective methods I use today, and it produces faster and better outcomes. Some of you may have experienced this treatment in my office. I have been using this technique for years and the results are remarkable.

Graston Technique is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation. This technique has been clinically proven to achieve quicker and better outcomes in treating both acute and chronic conditions including:

  • Cervical Sprain/Strain

  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

  • Elbow Tendonosis

  • Rotator Cuff Tendonosis

  • Lumbar Sprain/Strain

  • Plantar Fascitis

Accepted by elite athletes and everyday patients, GT is successful in treating all soft tissue conditions. The Graston Technique offers many advantages to the patient such as:

  • Decreased overall treatment time

  • Faster rehabilitation

  • Reduces need for anti-inflammatory medication

  • Resolves chronic conditions thought to be permanent

  • Increased Range of Motion

Research Supports GT

The effectiveness of the Graston Technique® is founded in research. Research conducted by Graston Technique® trained clinicians at Ball Memorial Hospital and Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., found that the controlled micro-trauma induced through Graston Technique® protocol increased the amount of fibroblasts to the treated area.

That amount of inflammation to the scar tissue helps initiate the healing cascade. The structure of the tissue is rearranged and damaged tissue is replaced by new tissue. Ice is then applied to reduce the pain and exercise is implemented to increase function and range of motion.

Other clinical studies continue to document the success of Graston Technique®, generally achieving better outcomes when compared to traditional therapies, and resolving injuries that have failed to respond to other therapies.

Testimonials:

"Even though the stainless steel tools look unusual, the Graston Technique® has brought me much relief. GT breaks up scar tissue fibers and smoothes the tissue underneath. It has increased my range of motion and decreased the inflammation and pain that I've experienced. GT has sped up the recovery time for every one of my injuries."

"Dr. Angela uses a metal object on my lower back. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but the relief is immediate and my adjustments seem to last much longer."
