What can we do for you?
CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENT
We provide our patients with a combination of chiropractic adjustments, cutting edge soft tissue techniques, rehabilitative exercises, workstation ergonomic advice, and postural correction. We believe that each patient is unique and deserves equally distinctive treatment protocols. We do not prescribe extensive treatment plans. Our goal is to get you out of pain as quickly as possible and give you tools to stay that way. Active home rehabilitation is heavily emphasized and issued early to accelerate healing, improve core strength, and address biomechanical problems.
Dr. Walk's post-graduate training includes Advanced Nutrition, Sports Rehabilitation, Myofascial Release Technique, Graston Technique, and analysis and treatment of elbow, wrist, and hand injuries.
Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy (Adjusting) - When a joint is fixated or stuck, the doctor utilizes chiropractic manipulation or an adjustment to help restore normal motion and function. Generally, this technique employs gentle pressure or a shallow thrust to restore optimal motion. An adjustment is sometimes accompanied by a pop, which results from the joints release of nitrogen gas (the same pop heard when one "cracks their knuckles"). Neurologically, an adjustment will inhibit pain, help relax muscles, and will improve neuromuscular coordination.
Myofascial Release - MFR is a soft tissue technique that combines massage and stretching that treats many muscle, tendon, ligament, and fascia problems. It is designed to increase range of motion, eliminate trigger points and soft tissue adhesions. Dr. Walk has had extensive training with this technique and the results are remarkable.
Graston Technique - Graston Technique is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation. This technique has been clinically proven to achieve quicker and better outcomes in treating both acute and chronic conditions including: Cervical Sprain/Strain, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Elbow Tendonosis, Rotator Cuff Tendonosis, Lumbar Sprain/Strain, and Plantar Fascitis.
The Graston Technique offers many advantages to the patient such as:
-
Decreased overall treatment time
-
Faster rehabilitation
-
Reduces need for anti-inflammatory medication
-
Resolves chronic conditions thought to be permanent

Foundation Training - Foundation Training is a series of exercises designed to change destructive movement patterns and build a powerful posterior chain which begins with a strong low back. It is no secret that our posture, sedentary lifestyle, and bad movement patterns put too much stress on the spine, particularly the lower spine. We must redefine the core and shift the emphasis from the abs to the much larger muscles in the back of the body. Foundation training is based on the simple, but unique idea that strengthening the posterior chain (the muscles in the back of the body; upper back, lower back, gluts, hamstrings, and inner thighs) allowing the strong muscles in the back do their job of supporting the weight of the upper body and propelling movement. With Foundation Training, you are building a solid muscular base. From there, you can go anywhere with flexibility, power, and endurance. The results we have seen have been life changing. http://www.foundationtraining.com
Massage Therapy - We have talented licensed massage therapists on our team. Please contact our office for more information.
Dr. Angela Walk has been serving the downtown Nashville business district since 2000. As our practice is in central downtown, we are surrounded by thousands of workers that sit at workstations. Education and prevention is key to effectively treat our downtown community. Recent studies have shown that SITTING IS THE NEW SMOKING! That is certainly a profound statement. People who have sitting jobs have twice the rate of cardiovascular disease. After 2 hours of sitting, good cholesterol drops 20% and insulin effectiveness drops 24% and the risk of diabetes rises.
We sit at workstations all day, drive everywhere, and we spend our evenings watching TV, reading, or playing games on our phone. Everything we do is forward facing and subjects our spine to long periods of flexion or forward bending. This stresses the spinal structures including joints, ligaments, and muscles. Eventually, your body adapts to these stresses resulting in loss of mobility, muscular tightness, a weakened core resulting in PAIN!
The practical solution to this long-standing dilemma is to address each component. Dr. Walk's goal is to restore your altered body mechanics, address the restricted soft tissues and prescribe core exercises specific to your mechanical imbalances and weaknesses.
Dr. Walk is a corporate speaker as a Repetitive Strain Injury Specialist. She offers trainings to many downtown businesses on how to have healthy workstations to prevent injuries. She is a professional consultant on issues relating to occupational health and safety.
"There's no one like Dr. Angela! She spends more time with her patients than any chiropractor I have visited. The muscle release work she does before the adjustment sets her apart. She has true southern charm and I look forward to my appointments with her.
